Women make 95% of domestic violence victims in Kyrgyzstan – Ministry

AKIPRESS.COM - Socially vulnerable members of family become victims of domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan mostly, including women, children, elderly people and people with disabilities, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development said. Women make 95% of domestic violence victims, 30% of children are abused in families, 71% of surveyed people said elderly people suffer from violence.
According to the Interior Ministry, 5,623 cases of domestic violence were registered in 11 months of 2019. Some 5,077 temporary protection orders were issued. 584 criminal cases into domestic violence were forwarded to the courts.
2,753 sought medical assistance at Family Medicine Centers in connection with domestic violence in 2018.
