AKIPRESS.COM - The Vice PM Altynai Omurbekova held session of National council for women affairs and gender development under the government on Jan 16, the government reports. Omurbekova noted that the international partners, gender experts, representatives of committees on domestic violence prevention and crisis center were invited to the meeting, in order to jointly find ways to resolve the issue, discuss the current situation and problems, as well as propose prevention measures.
According to her, the protocol for coordination of state bodies, which are entrusted with security and prevention from domestic violence, protocol of providing assistance to victims of domestic violence, as well as standard intervention program on changing abusive attitude for persons who committed domestic violence were adopted in August 2019 within the law execution on security and prevention from domestic violence.
"However, all this actions did nothing to resolve domestic violence issue. According to the police statistics, 7,045 offenses resulted from domestic violence were recorded in 2019, and 6,145 protection orders were issued and 649 cases were sent to courts. I call on prosecution agencies to take each case on domestic violence under control, to hold strict supervision over the execution of law, as well as Interior Ministry should regularly conduct work with personnel on increasing attention to domestic violence cases," said Omurbekova.
