Tajik and Uzbek migrant workers faced sanctions after they waved flags of home countries on New Year night in St. Petersburg

AKIPRESS.COM - St. Petersburg authorities took actions towards migrant workers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, who saw the New Year in at Palace Square in St. Petersburg. Sitting on shoulders of their friends, the young men were waving flags of their home countries, nuz.uz reports.
It is not prohibited to demonstrate patriotic feelings this way by the regulation. However, migrants captured on the video came in attention of the Interior Ministry leadership and check of their documents was recommended.
Police located 14 migrants waving flags on the Square. The check reportedly found each of them violated rules of stay in Russia in a variety of ways. A part of migrants provided false information during registration, others violated rules of entry.
Administrative protocols were formalized for all located 14 citizens of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Three of them face forcible deportation. One will leave Russia voluntarily.
The rest guest workers got their period of stay in Russia shortened or will be denied entry to Russia in future.
