AKIPRESS.COM - The Chon Kemin national park, which is located 135 km from Bishkek on the territory of Chui region, is home for rare endangered animals, birds and plants, including snow leopards, the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of Kyrgyzstan reports.
The park is located at the altitude of more than 1300 meters surrounded by mountains ranges.
The whole territory of the national park is located on the high mountain district. All of these mountain ranges are the main ones in the Tian Shan mountain system.
More than 200 species of vertebrate animals, 9 species of fish, 2 species of amphibians, 11 species of reptiles, 45 species of mammals, 140 species of nesting birds live in the park.
The number of birds reaches 80, and insects - more than 5,000.
A growth of wild animals is observed in the park over the last years.
The national park occupies 123,654 ha of land.
