AKIPRESS.COM - Justice Ministry submitted for the public discussion the draft amendments to the law on citizenship. One of the law articles envisages the deprivation of citizenship of Kyrgyzstan those persons who received citizenship of another country, said MP Janar Akayev at the parliament meeting on Jan 30.
"This will adversely impact on migrants. They will lose the citizenship of Kyrgyzstan and this may lead to demographic collapse. It's not enough that the government can not provide citizens with work, but kick them out of the country," said Akayev.
According to him, 553,198 Kyrgyzstanis received Russian citizenship in 2017.
"They have remained Kyrgyz citizenship, they are buying land and apartments here. They are citizens who temporarily left to earn money," said Akayev and noted the amount of remittances from migrants reached over $2 billion in 2018.
