AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Water Resourses of Uzbekisan Shavkat Khamrayev said that his country will provide the Kazakhstani lands with irrigation water, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
The two countries will sign an intergovernmental agreement on a joint management and use of rivers and other waters flowing on the territory of the two countries, he said.
"We are making all efforts to provide Kazakhstan with irrigation water during the vegetational season," Khamrayev said at the briefing of the Ministry.
The uneven distribution of water resourses of two rivers in Central Asia - the Syrdarya and Amudarya - leads to a conflict interests of the key suppliers of water (Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan) and its consumers (Kazakhstan, Uzbekisan and Turkmenistan).
