AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan explained the tightened phytosanitary control on the Kazakh-Russian border is not linked to coronavirus.
"These measures are not linked with spread of COVID-19. 32 phytosanitary checkpoints were established close to the border with Russia last year to disclose violations in imports of agricultural products to Kazakhstan," the Agriculture Ministry said.
The Kazakh authorities disclosed 293 violations in imports of products subject to phytosanitary control from Russia since the beginning of the year. The fines for $26,100 were imposed.
The phytosanitary control is aimed at prevention of agricultural pests that cause plant diseases.
Kazakhstan earlier banned imports of some fruits from China.
