AKIPRESS.COM - Only 21.4% of people in Kazakhstan are positive about rallies, Minister of Information and Social Development Dauren Abaev said, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported.
Lots of opposite opinions were received during public discussion of the proposed draft law on peaceful assemblies, the Minister said.
The public poll conducted by the Ministry of Information and Social Development among citizens of Kazakhstan found 53.7% of respondents believe obtaining a permission for a rally should be mandatory for rally organizers.
"Only 21.4% of respondents are positive about rallies in Kazakhstan. Since the draft law was uploaded, 261 comments were received. It is the biggest number of comments received for the bill, as far as I remember. It was uneasy to keep the balance when needs of all involved parties would be met," Minister Abaev stated.
The bureau for public opinion express monitoring DEMOSCOPE with support of the Conrad Adenauer Foundation conducted a public poll in all regions of Kazakhstan. Thus, 40% of respondent said rallies destabilize situation in the country. 73% of respondents said permission of authorities should be obtained for holding a rally.
The public poll conducted by Kazakhstan Social Development Institute found 87.7% of respondents do not wish to participate in demonstrations.
