'No reasons for price hikes. Some people attempt to take advantage of situation and make money' – Vice PM of Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - "Growth of demands and mass purchases of food products are observed in some bazaars and shopping centers of Kyrgyzstan, but I think this is due to the actions of some people, traders," Vice Prime Minister Erkin Asrandiyev said on March 14. "We condemn such actions. I think these actions cause damage to both society and government. This is due to some people, who want earn extra money amid this situation. In fact, reserves of food products and main products are enough. Production and supply of goods from abroad are made as normally. There are no reasons for concerns and increase of prices today," he noted.
In terms of flour, those, who want to earn extra money, are spreading rumors that Kazakhstan is closing border due to coronavirus and flour import might stop, Asrandiyev noted.
"In fact, the border with Kazakhstan is not closed. Only passage of citizens is changed due to the virus situation, but transportation of goods, food products through the border is carried out as normally," he added.
