Kazakhstan declares nationwide emergency, closes borders as 8 coronavirus cases confirmed

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared nationwide emergency situation in Kazakhstan over coronavirus outbreak. Emergency situation is in force from 8 a.m. on 16 March 2020 until 7 a.m. on 15 April 2020.
During this period, Kazakhstan restricts the functioning of large trade objects, suspends shopping malls and entertainment centers, movie theaters, exhibitions and other facilities with a large number of people.
Kazakhstan also imposes restrictions on entry into and exist from its territory by all means of transport, except for diplomats of Kazakhstan and foreign states and members of delegations of international organizations arriving to Kazakhstan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As of March 15, 8 cases of Covid-19 infection have been confirmed in Kazakhstan.
