Quarantine rule breaking may lead up to 10 years in prison in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 26 signed the amendments and additions to the Criminal and Criminal Procedural Codes, Administrative Liability Code of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Justice said. The Criminal Code was added with the article 244-5 "Spread of untrue information on quarantined and other dangerous infections amid epidemic of dangerous infections".
Thus, spread of false information will be fined from $4,700 to $9,400, or mandatory public works from 300 to 360 hours, or correctional labor from 2 to 3 years, or up to 3 years in prison.
Disclosure of the information on persons in contact or visited places during epidemic, as well as breach of requirements leading to a real threat of mass infection or poisoning of people resulting in mass infections will be punished with up to 5 years in prison.
Actions leading to a human death will be punished with 5-7 years in prison. Actions leading to human losses will be punished with 7-10 years in prison.
Previously those actions were punished with 3-5 and 5-8 years in prison.
