AKIPRESS.COM - Former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov was transferred to the remand prison No. 1 in Bishkek, his attorney Nurbek Toktakunov told AKIpress.
Sapar Isakov was earlier held in the remand prison of the State National Security Committee.
Toktakunov said he received a call from the duty officer of the remand prison of the State National Security Committee yesterday, who said Isakov was being transferred to the remand prison No. 1.
"He is transferred since the verdict on the Bishkek combined heat and power plant trial entered into force. But since the consideration of the probes into race track and Historical Museum repair is ongoing, he could be remained in the remand prison of the State National Security Committee," Toktakunov said.
The attorney suggested such decision could be made to exert pressure on Isakov through criminals held in the remand prison No. 1.
Attorneys are not allowed to visit clients in the remand prison No. 1, he said.
"Consideration of criminal probes does not stop during the state of emergency, judges and investigators keep working, but the Security Council and the commandant's office bar attorneys from moving freely," Toktakunov said.
The commandant's office violated fundamental human rights, which should be respected even during the state of emergency, he said.
Those accused of crimes against the state are held in the remand prison of the State National Security Committee, mainly high-ranking officials.
As the mass media were not included in the list of permitted activities during the state of emergency in Kyrgyzstan, AKIpress apologizes to its readers for reduced promptness and coverage of news.
