AKIPRESS.COM - The Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported about the growing suicide rate among teenagers during the last several days.
Between March 18 and 28, the time when the schools were closed for quarantine over coronavirus pandemic, 7 teenagers committed suicides. Their age varied between 12 and 16 years. Two cases were reported in Ton district, Issyk-Kul region, 1 case in Jety-Oguz district, 1 case in Issyk-Kul district, 1 case in Ak-Suu districts, 2 cases in Issyk-Ata district, Chui region.
Police investigate causes of suicides of the children.
"In four cases, children did not have both parents. Others lived with their relatives. Teenagers mainly committed suicides in daytime, their caregivers were unaware of their whereabouts," the Interior Ministry said.
