AKIPRESS.COM - The state of emergency will be extended in Kazakhstan until the end of April, President Tokayev's press secretary Berik Uali said, Tengrinews.kz reported.
The meeting of the state commission for the state of emergency was held today under chairmanship of President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. Region governors and city mayors, heads of government and law enforcement agencies partook in the videoconference.
"The order on declaration of the state of emergency will expire on April 15. It is obvious now that the state of emergency should be extended at least until the end of April. We have not passed the peak of coronavirus prevalence. The situation with epidemic should not simplified. For this reason I order to prolong the quarantine regime in the capital, Almaty, Shymkent, other regions until the end of April," the President said.
"I realize this is unpopular decision, since people are willing to go outside, to return to a normal and usual lifestyle. But there is no other way out except for quarantine, self-isolation. This is the recommendation of local and international specialists," Tokayev said in his address.
