AKIPRESS.COM - The leaders of the Turkic Cooperation Council will hold extraordinary summit on April 10 in form of videoconference to discuss COVID-19 fight. President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev confirmed his participation in the summit, his press secretary Berik Uali said on Facebook. The summit will be held at the initiative of the Turkic Cooperation Council Chairman, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev, informburo.kz reported.
"The participatns of the videoconference will exchange views on the actions taken at the national level to tackle coronavirus pandemic, to maintain multifaceted cooperaiton in healthcare sector and to address the common problems caused by COVID-19 in the region," the Kazakh President's press secretary said.
The heads of state will also discuss ways to mitigate negative effects of coronavirus on the national and world economy, will consider ways to keep up commercial and economic relations, transportation during crisis and after it.
The members of the Turkic Cooperation Council include Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
