AKDN provides food and medical supplies to 150 vulnerable families in Chui region

AKIPRESS.COM - Responding to the request of local authorities and communities, 150 vulnerable families in six villages of Baitik rural municipality, Alamedin district, Chui region were provided food and medical supplies on April 8 by the Aga Khan Development Network through the Public Foundation for Excellence in Education (PFEE). Recipient families were identified by the local authorities and included the most vulnerable households, including individuals with physical challenges and elderly persons, AKDN reported. "We are deeply grateful for this much needed support during these difficult times," noted a female single parent taking care of a family of three children in Kashka-Suu village while receiving the basket of goods.
The PFEE together with representatives of local authorities, community leaders and social workers distributed care packages which included flour (600 kg), cooking oil (150 litres), antibacterial soaps (450 bars), face masks (1500 pieces) and information leaflets on COVID-19 to targeted households.
"It is heartening to receive friendly support in times of such difficulty, and I express my sincere appreciation on behalf of people of Baytik to the Aga Khan Development Network and Public Foundation for Excellence in Education. We will fight the coronavirus together and I look forward to our continued cooperation in the future," said Mr Asylbek Abdyrazakov, governor of Baitik rural municipality.
Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which was founded by His Highness the Aga Khan, is a private, international, non-denominational development organization.
Public Foundation for Excellence in Education (PFEE), a private, not-for-profit and secular organization founded in Kyrgyzstan in 2012 to promote social and economic development by supporting education and intellectual creativity and enabling peoples to preserve their rich cultural heritage as assets for their future. PFEE is registered and located in Bishkek. It seeks partnerships and can operate throughout the country.
