AKIPRESS.COM - Research centers forecast the peak of COVID-19 active cases in Kazakhstan will be in late April or early May, Health Ministry's representative Ludmila Burabekova told a press conference today, vlast.kz reported.
"According to forecasts prepared by our research centers, the peak of the coronavirus infection is expected either in late April or in early May, when the number of cases will exceed 2,000," Ludmila Burabekova said.
Health Minister Yelzhan Birtanov said earlier the peak of coronavirus infection cases will be in the first half of April. The Minister projected the number of active cases may reach near 3,500 at that time.
"Experience of other countries allows to forecast the peak of infection will be in April-May, with the peak in the first half of April. We project around 3,500 cases for that period. The incidence will then drop in summer, but will not cease entirely," he said.
Health Ministry's executive secretary Botagoz Jakselekova said later the peak of coronavirus cases will occur in the next 1-2 weeks.
Kazakhstan has so far confirmed 979 COVID-19 cases. 110 patients recovered, 12 patients died.
