First Deputy PM refutes reports alleging donations for COVID-19 fight were embezzled

AKIPRESS.COM - The government ensures an open and transparent process of use and distribution of all incoming donations and humanitarian aid for fight against coronavirus infection, First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov said.
There are two special accounts for donations - accounts of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.
"125 million soms were transferred to the first account. According to the decision of the special commission for distribution of donations, 38.5 million soms from them were directed for pay supplements to medical workers in March. The remaining donations were not spent yet and remain in the account," Boronov said.
The information that these funds were embezzled or are missing is untrue, the First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
13.5 million soms were transferred to the account of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. Some 4.3 million soms from them were used for support of poor families based on the lists of the Ministry. The remaining donations are kept in the account, Boronov said.
