AKIPRESS.COM - North Rhine-Westphalia police detained a group of nationals of Tajikistan, who plotted terror attacks in Germany, Der Spiegel reported.
Four detentions were made in the morning of April 15 in various districts of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The supposed leader of the group, 30-year-old Ravshan B., is held in the pre-trial detention facility since last year. He was detained after police found he had weapon. The investigators suggest the detained are members of one of the cells of the Islamic State.
They reportedly joined the Islamic State in January 2019 and maintained contacts with high-ranking leaders of the Islamic State in Syria and other countries.
Investigators say the detained Tajik nationals planned to leave Germany for Tajikistan at first to fight against the Tajik government there. Then they changed their mind and decided to commit terror acts in Germany, Der Spiegel reported.
The group was already planning the terrorist attacks. They considered American bases in Germany and persons they thought were critical about Islam as objects for attacks. Besides, the suspected terrorists ordered materials online that can be used for making explosive devices.
The police earlier found several weapons belonging to members of this group, Ravshan B. among them.
