Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan boost cooperation on exchange of information

AKIPRESS.COM - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Central Asia facilitated pre-arrival information exchange between Port Control Units (PCU) of Turkmenbashi International Seaport, Turkmenistan and Baku International Sea Trade Port at Alyat, Azerbaijan under UNODC - World Customs Organization (WCO) Global Container Control Programme (GCCP) in April, the UNODC announced on Tuesday. According to the statement, based on the request of PCU of Turkmenbashi seaport, PCU of Alyat port shared a manifest data and a list of passengers of ferries coming from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan using secure WCO ContainerComm platform.
The above represents a good example of regional practical cooperation during COVID-19 period, the UNODC said.
ContainerComm is a user friendly, internet based and multifunctional communication tool that facilitate the encrypted exchange of sensitive information between authorized users in participating countries or ports.
The GCCP was created in 2004 by the UNODC and the WCO. The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan joined the program in 2009.
