Dushanbe starts large-scale disinfection of streets, public places, buildings

AKIPRESS.COM - Dushanbe authorities started large-scale disinfection of the main roads and streets over COVID-19 threat, the Tajik service of RFE/RL reported. Streets and avenues, bus stops, benches in parks and at apartment buildings will be sanitized until improvement of the epidemiological service.
"Disinfection is carried out with use of vehicles and manually in late and night hours. All streets, bus stops, benches in parks, buildings will be sanitized. The mayor's office provides a necessary amount of disinfectants to schools, hospitals, enterprises for disinfection," vice mayor Mahmadsaid Zuvaidzoda said.
The Dushanbe authorities spend 200,000 somonis (around $20,000) a day for disinfection.
Tajikistan has not confirmed coronavirus infection yet, but the authorities are taken actions to prevent COVID-19, the vice mayor said.
"All workers of organizations and companies are obliged to wear face masks. In case they feel unwell, workers of the mayor's office should seek medical attention," he added.
Disinfection of streets and crowded places is also ongoing in Sughd and Khatlon regions of Tajikistan to prevent COVID-19.
