AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani discussed regional and international issues in a telephone conversation on April 29. The heads of the two neighboring states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on the priority issues of the friendly Turkmen-Iranian relations.
The Presidents touched on the topic of coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), covering a wide geographical space and having a negative impact on the lives of many states and peoples. The sides said the spread of a novel coronavirus infection has become global in nature and has led to emergence of adverse conditions in the world.
Turkmenistan fully supports the efforts of the world community in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that "our country stands for the intensification of international cooperation, based on such enduring universal values as humanism, mutual support and solidarity, aimed at developing joint steps to successfully counter this dangerous threat", Berdimuhamedov said.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to his Iranian counterpart for his great attention to bilateral cooperation and expressed confidence that mutually beneficial interstate partnership will continue to be strengthened for the common good.
President Rouhani confirmed the commitment of Iran to traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan and spoke in support of the initiatives of the Turkmen Leader in enhancing regional and international cooperation aimed at ensuring global well-being and developing balanced solutions to important issues of our time.
At the end of the conversation, the heads of the two neighboring states noted the existence of great potential for the further dynamic development of fruitful Turkmen-Iranian cooperation.
