MPs offer to privatize corporate housing in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - A group of MPs proposes amendments to a Housing Code of Kyrgyzstan.
Initiators said the amendments were developed with the purpose of providing citizens a real opportunity to realize their right to privatize their corporate housing.
Justification note says the Housing Code provides an opportunity to both citizens, who are waiting in queue for receiving corporate housing, and those who need better living conditions, to receive houses.
Both new and old Housing Code imply that the corporate housing is given to citizens, who have to reside at the place of work or near the work.
However, there were cases, when government and local self-governments presented houses to citizens for special merits, initiators noted.
The Housing Code provides an opportunity of privatization of corporate housing in some cases by direct sale of corporate housing to citizens living in corporate houses at least 20 years. But some civil servants waiting in the queue for receiving houses can not live out 20 years for some reasons.
In this regard, initiators propose to give civil servants opportunity to privatize their corporate housing.
