AKIPRESS.COM - Maulen Ashimbayev today has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, zakon.kz reported.
Ashimbaev was appointed member of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan by President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev on May 4.
Since December 2019, Ashimbaev held the post of the First Vice Chief of the President's Administration.
Ashimbaev succeeded Dariga Nazarbayeva in the Senate, whose powers of the member of the Senate were terminated by President Tokayev on May 2 and the mandate of the member of the Senate was teminated by the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan today.
Maulen Ashimbaev, 49, has degree in economics from the Kazakh State National University. During 2003-2004 he had internship at the School of Advanced International Studies at the Univerity of John Hopkins.
In 2005-2006, he was Security Council Deputy Secretary. In 2006-2011 he was Vice Chief of the President's Administration. Since July 2019, he was aide to the President of Kazakhstan. Since December 2019, he was Vice Chief of the President's Administration.
