AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan will not send a note to Uzbekistan. Such issue is not considered, Kazakh Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov said, zakon.kz reported. The situation with the burst of the Sardoba dam in Uzbekistan and as a result flooding of several settlements in Turkestan region is under a special control of the government, the spokesperson said.
On May 2, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev held a phone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Presidents discucssed the current situation and agreed on coordinated actions of the governments of two countries. In view of a close cooperation between the governments and heads of border regions in liquidation of consequences of the flooding, the issue of sending a note to the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan is not on agenda, Smadiyarov stated.
It was reported earlier Kazakhstan is preparing a note to Uzbekistan over the flooding of settlements in Turkestan region. Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology and Mineral Resources Sergei Gromov said that Kazakhstan may demand compensation for the caused damage and will oppose restoration of the Sardoba dam, since it was built without approval of Kazakhstan.
