AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan has spent almost 6 trillion tenge for coronavirus infection fight, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said in an interview with Tass.
"On the whole, the actions we have taken cost 5.5 trillion, almost 6 trillion tenge, this is $13 billion or more than 8% of GDP. That is, the measures are unprecedented," President Tokayev said when asked what actions were taken in Kazakhstan to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite criticism, the state should struggle for lives and well-being of citizens, President Tokayev said.
"I think we should struggle for lives and well-being of our citizens, since economy does not exist without people," the President added.
Kazakhstan has confirmed 4,179 COVID-19 cases. 1,207 coronavirus patients recovered. 29 patients died.
