AKIPRESS.COM - The Pervomaiskiy district court of Bishkek has found the Pervomaiskiy district administration's prohibition to hold rallies in the central parts of Bishkek between March 4 and July 1 legitimate.
The district administration said they receive notifications about planned peaceful assemblies from various citizens and organizations that are planned outside government and municipal agencies.
"This undermines stability of functioning of the capital city. As practice shows, leaders and organizers of such massive rallies do not control the process leading to mass disorders, traffic congestion," the district administration explained its move.
Another reason for prohibition of rallies in the center of the capital city was explained with coronavirus: citizens are recommended to refrain from crowded places and to restrict mass events.
The district administration filed a motion to the Pervomaiskiy district court today seeking recognition of its decision as legitimate and justified.
The initiative group and the crisis center Chance earlier informed the Bishkek mayor's office about planned march in protest against violence against children and women on March 8 in Bishkek. The march was supposed to be held in Pervomaiskiy district, central part of Bishkek. In view of the court ruling, the march may be prohibited as well.
