Ala-Archa water reservoir doesn't pose threat to Bishkek - Minister

AKIPRESS.COM - Ala-Archa water reservoir does not pose threat to Bishkek, Emergency Minister Zamirbek Askarov said in Parliament today.
"In 2018 there were discussions that the Ala-Archa water reservoir may outburst and whole Bishkek will be flooded. Emergency workers visited the site and artificially lessened the volume of water in the lake," Minister Askarov said.
When asked by MP Tazabek Ikramov what repair is carried out in the reservoir, the Minister responded the reservoir was formed naturally and as such does not need any repair. "We decrease the water volume if necessary when outburst threat arises," the Minister explained.
