Billionaire Alisher Usmanov gives over $10 million for liquidation of Sardoba dam burst consequences, support of displaced people

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan-born Russian billionaire, founder of USM Holdings, Alisher Usmanov, donated $10 million to support the affected people and to liquidate consequences of the flooding in Syrdarya region. This is what he said in his letter addressed to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev published by UzA. "Sharing current epidemiological difficulties with my brothers and sisters on the home ground, where I grew up and spent my adolescence, it hurt me to learn about the tragedy at the Sardoba dam and the hardships our people encountered decently and fearlessly," Alisher Usmanov said.
"I can't remain aside and hand over $10 million to support affected people, to restore their houses and improve living conditions, to liquidate the consequences of flooding as soon as possible," Alisher Usmanov said.
In April, Alisher Usmanov transferred $20 million to the Mercy and Health of Uzbekistan Public Foundation to support the efforts of the country in fight against coronavirus infection.
