Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan border representatives agreed on ceasefire

AKIPRESS.COM - Chief of the General Staff - the first Deputy Chairman of the State Registration Service of Kyrgyzstan colonel Abdikarim Alimbayev held phone talks with First Vice Commander of Border Troops of Tajikistan Hikmatullo Pirakov concering regulation of the situation following the recent border incident on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
During the talks, the sides agreed on a ceasefire and holding meeting of the border representatives.
The border representatives of the Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met in Tort-Kocho area, where agreed to withdraw additional forces attracted to the scene of the incident and to hold a meeting on May 10, 2020 with the participation of heads regional administrations and law enforcement agencies of the two states.
Currently, the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in the Chek area is relatively stable.
