AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held a meeting in Myrzakent village, Maktaaral district of Turkestan region, the Kazakh government's press service said. The Prime Ministers inspected the flooded areas of Maktaaral district and visited Nurlyzhol, Orgebas and Firdousi villages, where they became familiarized with the progress of ongoing liquidation of consequences of flood.
More than 1,300 people, 220 vehicles are involved into the process, including over 200 specialists, around 100 fire trucks, excavators, tractors, motorized pumps from Uzbekistan.
The Prime Ministers were introduced to the plan of construction of a new micro-district in Myrzakent, met with locals and attended the foundation laying ceremony at the site of construction of first houses.
Houses for 500 families, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities will be built in Myrzakent village for the families hit by the partial collapse of the Sardoba dam in Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan. The construction will be carried out by specialists from both countries.
Prime Minister Askar Mamin said all affected citizens will get new or repaired houses. Each of them will receive around $236 compensation from the central budget. Assistance is also provided by businesses.
On May 1, the Sardoba dam in Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan collapsed partially. The breached dam is 30 km away from the Kazakh-Uzbek border. After the dam burst, 5 villages in Maktaaral district of Turkestan region were flooded. More than 31,000 people were displaced.
