8.5 million people visited Kyrgyzstan in 2019, but only 2 million of them were tourists: PM

AKIPRESS.COM - More than 8 million people visited Kyrgyzstan in 2019, said Culture, Information and Tourism Minister Azamat Jamankulov in resonse to MP Baktybek Turusbekov's question on the number of tourists to Kyrgyzstan.
MP asked if that figure was real.
Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev said 8.5 million people visited the country according to the World Tourism Organisation methods.
"But in fact, about 2 million of them were tourists. Many citizens from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan visited our country. We consider foreigners from not these countries as tourists," he said.
