People hit by Sardoba dam burst to get $4,000 and home appliances

AKIPRESS.COM - President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with population of Sardoba district on May 15, the president's press service reported. It was announced at the meeting that the main task now is restoration of living conditions for people. Repair of damaged houses and construction of new ones are in progress already.
"Both repair and construction of new houses will be financed by the government and will be free for people. People will be able to move to their new apartments and repaired houses by September 1. The land plots under destroyed houses will still belong to their owners," President Mirziyoyev said.
Each of around 4,500 owners of houses damaged by the flooding will receive assistance in the amount of 40 million soums on behalf of the President of Uzbekistan (around $4,000) each and gifts in form of TVs, fridges, washing machines, mini-ovens, electric kettles, irons, President Mirziyoyev said.
$10 million donated by Alisher Usmanov will be spent for that purpose. Region administrations, ministries, agencies, businessmen also provide financial assistance to Syrdarya region.
The gift certificates and bank cards were awarded to Sardoba district residents present at the meeting.
