Ashgabat public sector employees obliged to undergo a medical check-up

AKIPRESS.COM - Staff of state-run companies and public sector organizations of Ashgabat have been obliged to undergo a medical examination, Chronicles of Turkmenistanreport. Each public sector employee is required to attend an outpatient clinic he or she is assigned to in order to have blood work and urine test taken, have an X-ray of lungs, an abdominal ultrasound, an EKG as well as to be examined by a cardiologist, a neurologist and an ophthalmologist. Women are also obliged to be examined by a breast oncologist.
Relevant documents certifying that a person has undergone a medical examination need to be presented to an employer.
Holders of a medical insurance are charged 75 to 100 manats for a check-up whereas others have to pay several times as much.
Not only do people complain about additional expenses they incur but they are discontent that they waste a lot of time in queues.
It is not known whether the requirement to undergo a mandatory check-up is related to the prevention of the coronavirus outbreak.
