Border Troops of Tajikistan issues statement on Tajik-Kyrgyz border situation

AKIPRESS.COM - The press center of the Border Troops of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan issued a statement following the shootout on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on May 24.
"Despite all signed agreements, at 10.30 a.m. on May 24 Kyrgyz shepherds intruded into the territory of Tajikistan and entered into the conflict with Tajik citizens, who opposed the actions of the Kyrgyz citizens and demanded from them to leave the Tajik soil," the statement said.
The Kyrgyz side then sent additional group of Kyrgyz border guards, who opened fire into unarmed Tajik citizens. As a result of the shootout, private Davlatyor Zoirov received gunshot wound in his leg, the press center said.
"These actions of the Kyrgyz border guards are seen as the attempt of artificial destabilization of the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border and may lead to response from the citizens of border villages of Tajikistan in this vulnerable zone," the statement said.
