AKIPRESS.COM - The perinatal center at the National Maternity and Childhood Protection Center is expected to open at the end of 2020, the German Embassy reports.
The construction of a new building for the perinatal center was launched on September 27, 2017 as part of signed agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Germany.
The perinatal center will be the first healthcare organization in Kyrgyzstan of tertiary level, built with international standards and equipped with the latest medical and non-medical equipment. The facility was supposed to be commissioned in December 2018.
The embassy noted that various delays in construction arose due to tender procedures. The completion of the construction was postponed until mid-2020.
However, the completion date was postponed to the end of 2020 over crisis caused by coronavirus pandemic.
In April 2019, Kyrgyzstan and Germany have signed financial contracts for 21 million Euros for construction of medical facilities. The signed contracts will support construction of perinatal centers in Bishkek, Osh and Talas and equipment.
