AKIPRESS.COM - The situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border has turned critical, said Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Erkin Asrandiyev during the offsite retreat at the Ak-Tilek road checkpoint June 4.
"Difficulties at the border with Kazakhstan have existed for a long time. The situation has worsened since last year. In recent weeks, the situation has become critical," Asrandiyev said.
"About 300-400 cars have been stranded near the border for several days these days, I personally checked out how the drivers from Kazakhstan pass the border into Kyrgyzstan. It consists of passport control, collection of personal data by medical workers, testing for coronavirus, and then the carrier waits for the test results in Kyrgyzstan. The departure procedure is not complicated either. But on the Kazakh side, everything goes slowly," said Asrandiyev.
Kyrgyz authorities are working within the EAEU to remove barriers, Asrandiyev said. "Unfortunately, the situation on the Union's internal borders is difficult, much more difficult than outside borders. Since last year, we've been working on removing the barriers," Deputy Prime Minister said.
