AKIPRESS.COM - The General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan has urged people not to participate "in unlawful rallies" planned for June 6.
Rallies and demonstrations should be held in special places only, organizers should notife the local authorities and approval beforehand, Deputy Prosecutor General Bulat Dembayev said in a statement issued on June 5.
"The local authorities designate areas and routes for demonstrations and marches, specify the requirements for their organization and set the boundaries where such actions may be held. Peaceful rallies are possible only upon completion of this procedure," Bulat Dembayev said.
He reminded about restrictions still in effect in Kazakhstan due to the pandemic and referred to the Health Ministry's prohibition for mass public events and rallies during quarantine. Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to administrative and criminal sanctions.
"Some people urge citizens to participate in unlawful mass rallies. Organization and participation in rallies in violation of the current regulations are unlawful and will be subject to administrative sanctions. If these actions harm rules and interests of citizens, organizations, society or the state, criminal sanctions will be applied," the Deputy Prosecutor warned.
