Number of unemployed people in Uzbekistan nears 2 million due to pandemic

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Employment Nozim Husanov told about unemployment level during session of the international press club on Fergana region's development on June 7, kun.uz reported.
"Coronavirus pandemic negatively influenced all countries. Before level of unemployment in Uzbekistan was around 1.35 million people. Today due to closed enterprises the number increased to almost 2 million people," Husanov said.
Around 550,000 migrants in Uzbekistan could not travel to other countries for work due to pandemic.
3.6 trillion sums from the anti-crisis fund were allocated for construction of 50-60 social facilities in each region. The migrants are engaged in construction of those sites, the Minister stated.
"1,500 migrants now work on construciton sites in Sergely district. They earn about 1.5-4.5 million soums per month," Nozim Husanov said.
