Agriculture Ministry says 120000 hectares of land to be attacked by the locust in 2020

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan is expected to have a massive population of locusts on an area of more than 120,000 hectares in 2020, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
The first locust attack was observed April 7, 2020 in Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region. On April 20, locusts were seen in the fields of Batken region, then on 24 April in Osh region.
As of June 1, a total of 22,910 hectares were checked in the country, 14,817 hectares were treated against the locust.
Currently, Jalal-Abad, Batken, Osh, Chui and Talas regions are conducting large-scale work against locusts.
