Turkmen scientists introduce innovative way to increase oil recovery

AKIPRESS.COM - The teaching staff of the Balkan Department of the International University of oil and gas (MUNIG) has developed an innovative way to intensify oil production, Turkmenportal reports.
The fact is that a significant part of the oil wells being developed by the state concern "Turkmennebit" consists of small reservoirs, which creates certain difficulties in their development, such as water cut, that is, an increase in the specific share of water in productive reservoirs. This leads to a decrease in the productivity of oil wells.
Scientists and teachers of the Balkan Department of MUNIG suggest using the design of packers used for separation of layers, isolation of columns from the impact of the borehole environment during the operation of wells, as well as for carrying out repair and maintenance work.
Packers are elements of the well structure that serve for separating (waterproofing) layers, as well as used for crushing layers. Their effectiveness has been proven in laboratory and production conditions. Selective packers consist of two packer elements that are reliably installed at any depth in the well, including in horizontal sections and side shafts.
The innovative research and training center MUNIG signed a contract with the Mary machine-building plant "Tilsimat" for the production of promising packers for the oil and gas industry.
