AKIPRESS.COM - Gross industrial output reached MNT 5.1 trillion in Mongolia in the first 5 months of 2020 decreasing by MNT 1.9 trillion (27.3%).
This decrease was mainly due to the decrease in mining and quarrying gross output by MNT 1.8 trillion (34.6%) and manufacturing output by MNT 230.3 billion (16.1%), respectively. Electricity, thermal energy and water supply output increased by MNT 67.0 billion (12.7%), Montsame reports.
Mining and quarrying gross output reached MNT 3.3 trillion in the first 5 months of 2020, showing a decrease of MNT 1.8 trillion (34.6%) from the same period of previous year. This decrease was mainly due to decreases in mining of coal and lignite by MNT 1.3 trillion (59.6%), extraction of crude petroleum by MNT 331.6 billion (78.9%) and mining of metal ores by MNT 113.6 billion (4.8%), respectively.
Extraction of iron ore and gold increased by 5.3-46.9 percent compared to the same period of previous year.
Alcohol, lime, milk, wheat flour, pure water, soft drink and juice production increased by 3.8 percent.
Production of coal briquette and face covering was increased by 3.9 to 18.7 percent. Extraction of brown coal, flour spar, copper concentrate, hard coal and crude oil were decreased by 7.2 percent.
