Bishkek police department's temporary detention facility overcrowded

AKIPRESS.COM - Cells in the Bishkek police department's temporary detention facility are overcrowded, the National Torture Prevention Center said June 18. The National Torture Prevention Center employees visited the temporary detention facility in the capital. The detention facility workers explained the overcrowding in the cells by the fact that in pre-trial detention facility No. 1 admits suspects only after 14 days and with negative coronavirus test result only.
At the time of the visit, 99 people were kept in the TDF at the limit of 60 beds. Nine of them were women and one minor.
The women reported that the cell had 4 beds for 6 people.
