AKIPRESS.COM - Among 1,904 medical workers who were infected with COVID-19, only 30% contracted the coronavirus infection at work, acting Health Minister Lyazat Aktayeva told a briefing yesterday, vlast.kz reported.
"Medical professionals make 12% of confirmed COVID-19 cases, this is 1,904 people in total. 30% of them were infected at work," Aktayeva said.
"The detailed analysis of infected medical workers found that 549 of them or 28.8% contracted the coronavirus at work," she said then.
"The remaining 72.2% of medical workers contracted coronavirus at home, when contacting other family members who tested positive for COVID-19, in public places (shopping centers, food stores, public transport)," she added.
In late April, the Ministry of Health announced about 820 medical workers infected with COVID-19 across the country.
The Kazakh government pays 2 million tenge compensation to medical workers who contracted COVID-19 at work. In case of lethal case of a medical worker, 10 million tenge compensation is paid.
