Uzbekistan to launch COVID-19 antibody tests since next week

AKIPRESS.COM - Coronavirus antibody tests will be made since next week in Uzbekistan, nationwide committee on coronavirus containment member Habibulla Akilov said during briefing in the Information and Mass Media Agency.
Uzbekistan has worked to detect and provide medical care to infected with COVID-19 and isolated their contacts till now, he said.
"Polymerase chain reaction analysis can confirm coronavirus. Infected people need to recover to have antibodies," he said.
Habibulla Akilov noted that search for antibodies through enzyme immunodetection is necessary to soften quarantine measures in Uzbekistan.
People are tested for coronavirus immunity in different countries. Japanese government started COVID-19 antibody tests to reveal number of infected including asymptomatic cases on June 1 due to cancellation of emergency state. The results will estimate the amount of required vaccines when it becomes available.
In Russia's capital, Moscow, tests for immunity started on May 15. At first only people who received invitation by email or SMS could be tested. All willing people may be tested since May 27. Antibodies were found among 12.5% of 50,000 tested people.
At the end of April World Health Organization noted that person who recovered from coronavirus and has antibodies can be infected the second time.
