Official suspected of bribery in Kazakhstan jumps into river trying to escape from law enforcers

AKIPRESS.COM - The chief of staff of Tekeli mayor's office in Kazakhstan jumped into the river trying to escape from law enforcement officers. He is suspected of taking a bribe, Kaisar Barjiksanov, investigator for high-profile cases at the Anti-Corruption Agency, told a press briefing.
The pre-trial investigation was launched by the Anti-Corruption Service and the local department of the National Security Committee against the official.
The official is suspected of taking a bribe of 1.5 million tenge.
When almost caught red-handed, the official tried to escape from the scene of crime, having jumped into the river, but he was nearly carried away by strong torrents.
The attempt to escape was unsuccessful, the official was detained by officers of the Anti-Corruption Service.
