AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan consumed around one-year reserve of medicines for more than a month due to the pandemic, Medicines Supply and Medical Equipment Department Chief Gulmiara Shakirova told a press briefing today.
Medicines were often purchased for future use, she said.
Pharmaceutical companies and some citizens tried to export medicines abroad. The prices for medicines were raised. Some of medicines were discovered hidden in storage facilities, she added.
"A call center was set up at the Medicines Supply Department. People may reported about the cases of re-sale of medicines at high prices. 27 criminal probes were launched by the financial police in the result. Due to such actions, the shortage of essential medicines became even worse and prices soared," Gulmira Shakirova stated.
