People in Uzbekistan buy foreign currency three times more

AKIPRESS.COM - Citizens of Uzbekistan bought $1.7 billion for 6 months in 2020. The most part of dollars they bought in June, the smallest part in May, Central Bank press service reports.
The amount of foreign currency bought in Uzbekistan during first 6 months in 2020 reached $1.7 billion, which is 3 times more than in 2019 ($557 million).
The amount of foreign currency sold in Uzbekistan reached $2.2 billion and grew by 57% or $797 million compared to 2019.
Uzbekistan's citizens exchanged dollars most in February for the sum of $514 million. They exchanged US dollars the least in April for the sum of $172 million.
Surplus amount for these operations reached $491 million which is by $351 million (42%) less than in 2019, the Central Bank said.
