AKIPRESS.COM - The situation when volunteers are saving man needing oxygen therapy right on the street in Bishkek reflects the current situation in healthcare sector, Dr. Prof. Nurlan Brimkulov, Chair of Family Medicine Department of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, said on KTRK channel today.
"Unfortunately, this episode reflects the current situation, when the health care system can't receive patients, provide consultations, when it is impossible to reach ambulane call center. This is connected with that we, health care system, turned to be unprepared and our country on the whole as well," he said.
The medical professional thanked all citizens who help now, support opening of provisional and makeshift hospitals. "Many are not prepared and of course can't provide rather qualified assistance," Prof. Brimkulov said.
This problem was discussed at the meeting with President Sooronbai Jeenbekov, he said.
Health experts said all options of medical care should be strengthened.
"Probably we will repurpose our big hospitals for patients with COVID-19. They include the National Surgery Center, Cardiology Center, where regular patients are not received," he said.
