President of Uzbekistan rebukes Minister of Health and Tashkent mayor

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev rebuked officials, who are responsible for COVID-19 containment in Tashkent and medical treatment, for failure in duties, president's press service reports.
The President held a video conference on July 15 on coronavirus situation in Tashkent and Tashkent region with the mayor and governors.
Mirziyoyev stated that they were not able to evaluate how dangerous the situation is.
"The city mayor and district governors, heads of departments in Tashkent and Tashkent region do not understand the real circumstances in their territories. They do not know what is going on in hospitals. They cannot feel responsibility for protection of people against virus, for patients treatment," he said.
The Ministry of Health several times violated the COVID-19 treatment strategy, the medical treatment did not change in accordance with real situation, the statement says.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted absence of tests and medical equipment in Tashkent and ungroundedly soared prices for drugs which resulted in complaints from local people.
During meeting the sides discussed measures for coronavirus containment in Tashkent and Tashkent region.
The government's committee was instructed to set up teams of officials, doctors to stop COVID-19 spread and treat patients in the capital and the regions.
The President also demanded to triple the number of mobile groups in outpatient clinics in Tashkent and Tashkent region.
